We’re back! We’re home! We have risen from the ashes! As Peter said to Jesus during the Transfiguration, “it is good for us to be here.”
Although the restoration process may seem slow to some, we need to look at how far we have come! From that awful cold rainy Winter’s night in February when it looked like ferocious flames would consume our beautiful Church to this time right now. Immediately after the fire, Father Mawn didn’t miss a beat getting our church set up in the parish center so God’s sheep could still come and worship.
How blessed we were to be able to still worship God and receive the Eucharist in our own parish community.
Now we are back in our beloved Corpus Christi Parish, thanks to so many hard working and dedicated volunteers, whose names are too numerous to mention. Not only was the church restored, but the grounds around it were cleaned as well, thanks to Roque Pena and his crew. Not only did they clean the grounds of weeds and dirt, but they also power-washed the building and the surrounding grounds, not an easy task!
Our parish community is beyond blessed to have so many parishioners willing to go above and beyond whatever it takes to help, sometimes without even having to be asked. This is God working within all of us letting His light shine within His people.
“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Yes, we are back; we are home; we have risen from the ashes and our faith continues to strengthen and we continue to rebuild. Rejoice and be glad, for the Lord remains with us always.
