OCTOBER: PRO-LIFE MONTH

October is also respect for life month. As Catholics we are committed to the respect and dignity due to each person from the moment of conception to natural death. Pope John Paul II warned us of the growing culture of death.

This is becoming more and more obvious as time goes on.

OCTOBER-MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY

October is traditionally dedicated to the Rosary, a Christocentric prayer, seeing Christ through the eyes of Mary, reflecting on the mysteries of faith. The Rosary has been referred to as a compendium or summary of the gospel, Pope John Paul II‘s favorite prayer. When was the last time you said the Rosary, alone or as a couple/family? May the next time you touch the Rosary not be when the funeral director wraps it around your hands!

One of the largest Catholic organizations in the world is the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. Hundreds of thousands of members try to say at least 15 decades of the Rosary each week, praying for fellow members, living and deceased. There is no other requirement. One can join by writing to: The Rosary Center, PO Box 3617, Portland, OR, or by going on-line to www.rosary-center.org

ATTENTION USHERS

We are doing a head-count at all the weekend Masses in the month of October. Please write down the time and date of the Mass along with the count. Thanks for your cooperation.

Grand Annual

Just to give you a “heads-up”: October is also the Grand Annual month. We hope to have materials for you soon! Your support is appreciated.
