YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH
To celebrate the 150ᵗʰ anniversary of the Church naming St. Joseph Patron of the Universal Church, Pope Francis has declared a year in honor of St. Joseph.

This would be a time to reflect on his quiet, honorable life, asking for his intercessions in the present circumstances.

Remember, the Archdiocese is presently celebrating a Year of the Eucharist to grow in love and appreciation for this Most Blessed Sacrament.

Christmas Decorations
Thanks to David Boucher, Zach Francisco, Tom and Sue Whitman for decorating the church with the banners, wreaths, etc. Also thanks to Rose Maria Redman and crew for preparing the Nativity Scene and decorating with the flowers.

Covid-19 Vaccination
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has issed a rather lengthy statement on Covid-19 and vaccinations. Here is an excerpt:

“First, at least at present, there is no available alternative vaccine that has absolutely no connection to abortion (begun with fetal cells decades ago).

Second, the risk to public health is very serious, as evidenced by the millions of infections worldwide and hundreds of thousands of deaths in the USA alone.

Third, in many cases the most important effect of vaccination may not be the protection it offers the person who receives the vaccination, who may be of relatively robust health and unlikely to be seriously affected by the disease.

Rather, the more important effect may be the protection it offers to those who are much more likely to be stricken for the disease if they were to contract it through exposure to those infected.” …

“Receiving one of the Covid-19 vaccines ought to be understood as an act of charity toward the other members of the community.”

The Vatican, by the way, is waiting for their supply of the vaccine to inoculate their employees.

I plan to receive the vaccine when it is available to those in group “Ic”.
