Religious Education Update:
– The religious education program is continuing with success.
– Lois Cosme and Marilinda Cruz are in the process of scheduling Virtus training.
New Business
– Restoration work is being done in the downstairs church. The pews have been removed for sanitation and refurbishing. The ceiling tiles are in the process of being replaced. Wallboard is being constructed in the sacristy, and the altar is being repaired. New stands for the statues are being built, since the original stands sustained water damage. Blowers are being used to continue to dry out the downstairs church since there was so much water damage.
– Engineers and architects are currently working on plans for the rectory, which will be demolished and rebuilt. It has been suggested that the rectory will be rebuilt according to its original size and will become a Friar’s house for our new Franciscans. Meeting rooms will be built as well. Plans are underway to demolish the facility by the end of the year and start rebuilding next year. Father Peter displayed a suggested plan for the downstairs shrine and asked for suggestions and opinions.
– A parish council member offered to donate a statue of St. Francis, since he is the patron Saint of the Franciscan order.
– Father Mawn would like to resume the Exposition of the Holy Sacrament on Fridays; however, he has decided to wait until our new leadership is in place.
– Susan Witham is now the CORI forms coordinator. It was noted that all CORI forms for fiscal year 2021 have been completed.
– There will be a Zoom meeting on November 4 to discuss and hopefully finalize details of our new leadership.
The meeting adjourned with a prayer. The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on November 15, 2021.
